I was proving a point to a friend at work that the movie rental service from CDON.com didn't work.
This was the image I got when I opened the "store" in Firefox.
Take a look at the full picture... Either someone has a sense of humor or they can't use grammar.
The translation goes like this
The test failed
Our service is not compatible with your web browser.
The services is built for Internet Explorer 6 or 7. We
are researching the possibilities to offer support for better web browsers.
If you don't have Internet Explorer 6 or 7 installed
you can download it for free from Microsoft.
Ok, I can't download IE 6 or 7 for free since I don't own a Windows License from the beginning. Also, they admit that IE6 and 7 are sucky browsers, why else would they want to support "better web broswers"... So why build the service in a way that only works with a sucky browser?
Because people are idiots (a person on his/her own might be smart) and don't really care what they are doing or how. About 15 years ago you had to take classes to learn how to use a computer, you wouldn't get anything done without taking classes.
Now you just buy a computer and pray to the gods that it has Windows on it, most of them do. If you end up in front of one that doesn't you are basically f-ed. Where is my Internet? The blue e is the internet?
Kudos to those who buy a Mac, they are taking one step in the right direction, kudos to the ones who try Linux as well, you too will broaden your horizon and learn that not every OS is the same.
Listen to
this song to see what I mean....
(BTW I tried the video store in IE 7, didn't work then either)
